HUTCHISON PORTS EIT incrementa su equipo portuario en Ensenada.

HUTCHISON PORTS EIT increases its port equipment in Ensenada. Ensenada´s Cargo terminal EIT, laid out a plan  to upgrade the response capacity of the port of Ensenada. The strategy considered the replacement of two QC cranes dating from 1978 with 2 new generation QC cranes from Hutchison Ports LCT terminal. With this, the terminal’s reach and elevation capacities will be improved, along with its operation speed and productivity regarding the attention to vessels.

The inclusion of the two cranes is expected to improve the terminals productivity, each crane will be able to manage 22 to 30 containers per hour, as well as improve the operational capacity in vessel attention by reducing the times of stay and avoid obsolescence problems. It is important to mention that the reception of the cranes required the dismantling of the current QC cranes in EIT.

Both the two Super Post Panamax gantry cranes and the two frame cranes being moved from LCT to EIT will be arriving to Ensenada in mid February, and due to the greater dimensions of the cranes the terminal had to undergo a reinforcement process and the installation of a third rail in the dock. This is only the first stage of the extension program, the dock will be added 150 meters in the next two years.

These investments are possible thanks to the market preference in the port of Ensenada, which motivates an important growth in  Hutchison Ports EIT terminal, in response to the needs of our clients and the benefit of their operations.
